28 Days Purging Series: Day 12

Welcome to day twelve of this purging series. Today we are going to be doing Makeup.

Our goal is to spend 20 minutes or less on this task. Throughout this series there may be tasks that only take 5-10 mins and that is great and gives so much motivation to keep on with the tasks in the days ahead.

Also, during these daily tasks for our purging series if there is a day where it does not apply to you or that place does not need it you can select another area to do with the same idea of 20 minutes or less.

Makeup is something that we should be more on top of as they too expiry and some quicker then others. I have a great tip that I also shared in Day 11. (Tip: if your products don’t have an actual expiry date but have dates like 12M, 24M, etc make it a habit to check these dates before opening and then with a permanent marker write the date you opened it. For pallets you can write on the label that comes on the back. This will insure you don’t forget the date you started using it and will know if it has passed the date.) I will also share a website with great information of the life span of makeup Healthline has a great post on it. Makeup is another hard one for me, making decisions on what to keep and not, because I love trying new products, I like having certain things for certain times. I have all my makeup organized into categories so it wasn’t hard to go thru when it came to starting.

I use these aryclic makeup organizers from Amazon top, the bottom and my pallets are in these. The other clear trays are from Dollarama.

Depending on how you have your makeup organized this process maybe a bit different for you. You can make the process work for you. I started at the top and went thru each section. Getting rid of old and expired. I also got rid of items that would be expiring not long from now that I only use for weddings or events as with our current situation (Covid) these things won’t be happening anytime soon.

Well, this took me about 20 minutes, think the longest part was deciding what to let go of and going thru lip products for colours. I also check my back stock of my favourite products to see what I had. How long did this task take you?

Review: Absolutely Lush

I love finding amazing products and items that are affordable and work.

Today, I will be sharing my review on the Absolutely Lush Makeup Mirror purchased from Amazon.

Makeup Mirror with Light | Vanity/Touch Screen Dimming, Tri-Fold 1x 2X 3X Magnification Sections, Portable High Definition Clarity Cosmetic LED Light . Photo credit: Amazon seller.

I was need of a nice portable makeup vanity mirror with lights that I could use to apply my makeup, do my eye brows, etc. I love how it just doesn’t have a regular mirror, those side mirrors are magnify, 2x & 3x comes in handy when needing to see really up close, ex: do your eye brows, applying eyeliner, etc. It’s sleek shape does not take up much room. Also, so easy to take with you to another room if needed. You can use it with batteries (4 AAA) or use the USB cable and no need to use batteries. The dimmable lights makes it perfect for the light choice you need. The side mirrors fold close for a clean sleek look when not in use.

I would love to have those large vanity mirrors with lights, but not sure if I would love it in my vanity space. Also, they aren’t budget friendly. I am so happy I found this alternative. It is much smaller then those large vanity mirrors, but I think I prefer it as it is easy to move to another room and so easy to travel with. I also like how it comes with the USB cable so you don’t always have to rely on batteries. I would totally recommend this mirror if your in the market for one.
