28 Days Purging Series: Day 28

Welcome to day twenty eight of this purging series, it’s our last day to this purging series. Today we are going to be doing blankets.

Our goal is to spend 20 minutes or less on this task. Throughout this series there may be tasks that only take 5-10 mins and that is great and gives so much motivation to keep on with the tasks in the days ahead.

Also, during these daily tasks for our purging series if there is a day where it does not apply to you or that place does not need it you can select another area to do with the same idea of 20 minutes or less.

It’s the last day of the purging series, I have picked an easy task for today. Not sure about you guys, but our blanket collection can grow massively. Could be due to changing bedding decor or kids out grew a theme, but we hold onto the blanket for other reasons that we think we may need. With keeping of the blankets we only add to the pile and never let the others we had go. So blankets is another category I believe is a good one to be apart of our purging series. They are only so many blankets that are stored that we need to hold onto. For me, I have two for guests, everything else was just so many other blankets and/or throws that we added to the closet, but never let go of and truly never really use. Out of ten, I kept six, two that is great quality and are for guests, the other four I kept for the girls for fort building or if we need a backup for some reason. Also, one of them is for outdoor use (like in the backyard, for the park, etc…)

28 Days Purging Series: Day 8

Welcome to day eight of this purging series. Today we are going to be doing the utensil drawer.

This task should not take long. If yours is like mine, we are constantly shifting the tools around. It is so easy for this drawer to become unorganized or too full. My older kids do chores, and one of their chores is to put away the clean dishes. With this being said of course things are not put the way we would do it and that’s ok. So, this is why this task is a good one. We can get it back in order. I have pulled all of the cooking utensils and gadgets out, went thru it all. I am into kitchen gadgets and at times something I buy might not work for me or I don’t like it, but instead of tossing it there and then I can at times for some reason hold onto it. Today is the day to let go of those. Get rid of those cooking utensils that are well used and you see it’s time to be replaced. If you don’t have a second of something that you use daily, keep it until you replace it. Make a note of what needs to be replaced. Also, be sure once they are replaced to toss them. My drawer organizer is from Costco and I have had it for many years. It came with the utensil organizer for your cutlery and this one for your cooking utensils. It works and is very durable.

Something I also did was added this cute tin to my stove top to hold my most used utensils. It looks cute and is so convenient. This tin is from Dollarama, it came with a wood lid and I just took it off and thought it was cute just like this. What do you think about it?

Are you enjoying this purging series? Is there an area that’s not covered in this series (printable calendar here) that you would like to see in a next purging series? You feedback is greatly appreciated.

28 Days Purging Series: Day 1

Welcome to day one of this purging series. Today we are going to be doing the fridge.
Our goal is to spend 20 minutes or less on this task. Throughout this series there may be tasks that only take 5-10 mins and that is great and gives so much motivation to keep on with the tasks in the days ahead. If you missed Introduction To My 28 Days Purge Series post you can check it out here.

First, you want to do section by section of your fridge, for example start with the top shelf then to the bottom and finally the door. You are looking for anything that is no longer in date, items you have but are not and will not use, and if an item belongs in a different section of the fridge. You can relocate items to their section that they belong once your done. You can also give that section a quick wipe (not a deep clean, unless you want and have time for it) if needed. So set your timer and let’s get to it.

Feels so good to be done right. Mine took me less then 10 mins including a quick wipe. Now, that may be because I have gotten into the habit to do this every end week. We are a family of six so our fridge easily gets disorganized and also it can get overloaded.

Also, during these daily tasks for our purging series if there is a day where it does not apply to you or that place does not need it you can select another area to do with the same idea of 20 minutes or less.

Comment below and let me know if you took part in today’s task.
